You might be familiar with this kind of case: you buy a bag of salad or vegetables or herbs from a grocery store and you think ‘well, this was a wise decision’. Then a couple of days later you realise it wasn’t. The green products are still in your fridge untouchable and they start to remind you of something else, like cabbages or potatoes.
Usually at this point you have only one solution: throw them away.
You should know you’re not alone with this problem. Hundreds of millions of people do this. The statistics give you quite a clear view. For example in Great Britain people throw away 40% of the salad they buy every year, say supermarket chain Tesco’s and waste institution Wrap’s research which was conducted a few years ago. The UN Environment Program says 21 million tonnes of vegetables are wasted each year in the whole world. They also state fruits and vegetables have the highest wastage rates of any food.
That’s why urban gardening is so important. Tregren’s Kitchen Gardens enable the pre-grown plants’ continuous flourishing. Growing pre-grown plants gives the green food a new life since you can harvest them again and again and again… Just buy vegetables or herbs from a grocery store, put them in the Kitchen Garden and you can have delicious, fresh and crisp salads and herbs everyday. This way you don’t have to waste vegetables and herbs.
And it’s important to realize that continue growing pre-grown plants is not an emergency procedure for the plants. This way you can always have a perfect salad and other vegetables and herbs. Your meals are getting to another level.
It’s ridiculously easy
People seem to think they don’t know how to grow. They think they will kill the plants. Probably in the traditional way they do that but the best part of the Kitchen Gardens and growing pre-grown plants is that it’s super easy and super fast. You can not kill the plants.
You just have to use about 15 minutes per month to succeed. It is so ridiculously easy and why’s that? The reason is that Tregren’s Kitchen Gardens are fully-automated. They do 99,9 percent of work on your behalf.
We listed here what the fully-automated Kitchen Garden means:
You just have to install the Tregren Smart Gardener App and choose the right program for your vegetables or herbs and it tells you what to do. And what you have to do isn’t much. Just add water a couple of times per week and change the water and add nutritions in every 2-3 weeks.
Why is continue growing pre-grown plants super important?
First of all, wasting food is an ethical issue. According to the European Union 20% of the total food produced is lost or wasted and at the same time there are 33 million people who cannot afford a quality meal every second day. That leads us to the economic problem. The whole food waste of Europe cost over 100 billion euros.
The most important thing is still the environmental issue. Producing salads and other vegetables and herbs depletes natural resources and wildly increases the carbon dioxide emissions when the companies are harvesting in the way of traditional gardening and when products are moved from place A to place B in the supply chain.
This is something that drives us forward. From the beginning of Tregren we have wanted to make the world better and being ecological is one of our biggest missions. And we’re happy to say our Kitchen Gardens are helping to solve these problems everyday.
One of our drivers is to stop the madness with food waste. People shouldn’t throw away 40% of the salad they buy. That’s why we always recommend our customers to use pre-grown plants alongside seed pods.
Give your plants a new life. It’s super important.
